r34tube

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16th April 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of r34tube ("we", "us") collects and uses personal data.

1. What we collect

You can upload anonymously — no account needed. If you register or interact with the site, we collect:

  • Account details: username, email address, password (hashed), optional bio and avatar, and your preferred language.
  • Content: images, videos, and text you upload, along with tags and post metadata.
  • Usage data: pages you view, interactions with posts (votes, comments, follows), and basic analytics events.
  • Technical data: IP address, country (resolved from IP via Cloudflare), browser user agent, and timestamps.
  • Cookies: see section 5 below.

2. How we use it

  • To run the service: serve your content, deliver your preferences, and keep your session active.
  • To moderate content: we use automated systems (including OpenAI image and text classifiers) to detect uploads that may breach our AUP.
  • To prevent abuse: bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile), rate limiting, and spam detection.
  • To communicate with you: account notifications, verification, password resets.
  • To measure usage: aggregated analytics so we can improve the site.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

3. Who we share it with

We never sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers strictly as needed to run r34tube:

  • Cloudflare (CDN, bot protection, DNS) — United States
  • Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage) — United States / European Union
  • Hetzner (hosting) — Germany / Finland
  • OpenAI (automated content moderation on uploads, text, and bios) — United States
  • Google Analytics (aggregated site analytics) — United States
  • Email providers (transactional email delivery) — United States

We may also share data when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of r34tube, our users, or others.

4. International transfers

Some of our providers are based outside the UK and EEA. Where this is the case, we rely on UK/EU Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions to protect your data.

5. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies, all strictly functional except for the analytics cookies:

  • r34tube_session — keeps you logged in; expires when you close your browser.
  • XSRF-TOKEN — protects forms against cross-site request forgery.
  • locale — remembers your chosen interface language; expires after 1 year.
  • _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics, used to measure aggregated site usage.
  • __cf_bm, cf_clearance — Cloudflare bot protection.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the session or XSRF cookies will break login and form submission.

6. How long we keep it

  • Uploaded content: until you delete it. Once deleted, it is removed from our storage and CDN within 30 minutes.
  • Account data: until you delete your account. Deletion is immediate; backups containing your data roll off within 90 days.
  • Server logs: up to 90 days.
  • Analytics data: per Google Analytics retention settings (currently 14 months).

7. Your rights

If you are in the UK or EEA, under UK GDPR / EU GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. See our GDPR page for details and how to exercise these rights.

8. Minors

r34tube is for legal adults only — anyone under 18 (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction) is not permitted to use the service. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us and we will remove the account immediately.

9. Security

We use HTTPS everywhere, hash passwords, and apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No system is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be flagged on the site. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
